Delays in KITE Client and Educator Portal

During the past two days, some KITE Client and Educator Portal users have been experiencing delays due to an unusually high number of students testing simultaneously. Peak hours appear to be 9:00‑10:30 Central Time. Our technology team is working to reduce those delays and ensure essential testing activities are available at all times.
For the best testing experience, teachers may wish to check the status of KITE Client before logging into the system.
How to tell if it’s a good time to test a student.
If the status of KITE Client is green, you should be good to go. If the status is yellow, and you have the flexibility to wait, you may wish to delay testing students.
How to tell if it’s a good time to manage data or create a new report.
If the status of Educator Portal is green, you should be good to go. If the status is yellow, and you have the flexibility to wait, you may wish to delay managing data or obtaining new reports.
Typically, a student can be inactive in KITE® Client for up to 90 minutes. If a student requires a break that lasts longer than 90 minutes, the system will log out automatically and the student’s responses will not be saved.
A similar principle applies when student testing is interrupted due to a timeout issue. The intended user experience is:
- If the student is logged back in to KITE Client within 90 minutes, then responses entered should be saved. The best practice is for the teacher and student to review the testlet together from the beginning.
- If the student is logged back in to KITE Client after 90 minutes have passed, the responses are not saved.
