9/21/18: CBT Weekly Updates, Grades 3-8 ELA and Math

CBT Weekly Updates Call, 9/21/18

  1. CBT Roadshows kick off next week! As you may have seen, we sent a final registration reminder this morning. Some locations are close to capacity: CNYRIC, LHRIC, and MHRIC are close to closing registration due to capacity.
    • You will receive communication from Kiara, if your location starts to crest near capacity.
    • For the Rochester CSD location, we are working on a flyer to send to registrants to assist them with how to find parking
      • (Update, 10/1/18: parking flyer now attached to these meeting notes)
  2. We sent an email yesterday to CBT Roadshow locations about trying to identify some operational CBT attendees who may be willing to share their experience during the Q&A session at the roadshows.
    • If you cannot find anyone, do not worry. This is simply a bonus; we will continue to plan to share helpful questions and answers about CBT as with previous roadshows.
  3. We will be speaking about CBT to the NYSCOSS group (school superintendents) at their conference in Saratoga Springs on Monday (9/24).
    • We will talk about what NYSED and Questar have done to improve CBT for this next year—what steps we’ve taken to ensure a good CBT experience for our students in spring 2019.
  4. The Statewide CBT Simulation Checklist will be posted to CBT Resources today.
  5. We will be announcing the “empty” CR box for ELA today on CBT Support and via the CBT Listserv (properly called the “ELA Response Box Sampler”).
    • This is similar to the Math Response Sampler that we launched last year.
    • These are instructional tools that teachers can use in the classroom so that students can use the same CR boxes they use in the operational CBT exams for typing responses to instructional lessons in the classroom.
  6. We are working on a CBT high-level Timeline to post on CBT Support, which is a bi-monthly list of exciting CBT activities (training and major milestones). We’ve released one of these every year to help schools with high-level planning.
  7. Finally, we are still working on the RIC CBT contact list that we plan to post on CBT Support an then link to in the closing line for CBT Listserv messages. We hope to have this completed today!
