10/26/18: CBT Weekly Updates, Grades 3-8 ELA and Math

CBT Weekly Updates Call, 10/26/18

  1. More than 370 schools have already ordered CBT! More than 100 of those schools are new-to-CBT this year. The ordering system remains open until December 14, 2018.
  2. If you are from a BOCES that is working to secure a third-party scoring vendor contract or if you know of a BOCES or district that falls into this scenario (and the schools are being advised to mark their CBT Lead Scoring Entity in the NYSED ordering system as “Pending”), then can you please let us know about this? (Send an email to CBT Support.)
    • We will begin to start contacting schools that have indicated “Pending” as their Lead Scoring Entity status in the ordering system on Monday, October 29, 2018.
      • We want to make sure the schools know the pending status must be updated and find out if they need any additional help.
  3. As part of our ongoing work with the RIC Working Group, it was determined that we should host a BOCES CBT Information Session to address CBT issues that are particular to our BOCES colleagues and their BOCES program schools, such as: Student Testing Accommodations, Out of District Placement (OODP) students and data flow, and scoring for OODP students at a BOCES program school:
    • The webinar will be on Thursday, November 8 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
    • A registration URL will be distributed via the RIC Colleagues later today (contact your RIC colleagues on Monday, if you have not received this information and are part of a BOCES that administers or supports CBT)
    • We cannot promise that this presentation will be recorded as this presentation will be hosted by SED on WebEx software, but we are looking into it further.
    • Every CBT administration has had BOCES program schools administer operational CBT
  4. The video is posted from the Statewide Webinar that occurred on Monday, October 22, 2018, but there were various technical disruptions during the webinar recording.
  5. We are furiously working to set dates to complete our 2019 CBT training calendar!
    • We are working now with RICs to plan the CBT Winter Training Sessions at seven locations from February 5 to February 15, 2019.
      • Emails have already been distributed to the RIC locations that have been selected for a winter training event.
    • We are planning three ScorePoint training sessions this year and will contact those RICs next week, after we secure the rooms for the Nextera Admin training sessions.
      • ScorePoint training will be March 12, 13, and 14, 2019.
      • At this point, we do not know of any planned changes to the ScorePoint software—the training will be similar to last year’s training session.
  6. The Statewide Webinar to repeat the CBT winter training session content will be on Thursday, February 28 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
    • Registration will be available as an additional selection on the on-site location registration page (as with previous session registrations).
    • We will also offer a separate article on CBT support to easily share the Go-To Webinar URL. (As we did with the 10/22 webinar session.)
  7. We will work to update the monthly training calendar that is posted on CBT Support to add specific dates as well as any new training events.
  8. We are planning a CBT Simulation Webinar on Friday, January 11, 2019 to help schools with how to organize the CBT Simulation and make sure that schools have an opportunity to ask us questions as they plan for the two dates in February and March; as a reminder those dates are the following two days:
    • Tuesday, February 26, 2019
    • Tuesday, March 5, 2019
  9. There are additional CBT information sessions where our Charter and Religious & Independent Schools can find out more information about CBT:
    • CBT colleagues will be at the RISE conference on November 5-6th in Albany to host a table for consulting as well as to give a presentation specific to our Religious & Independent schools’ CBT needs:
    • The most important issue for these schools is to advise on data for students taking CBT: the RIS must work with a RIC to submit the same student data that public school submit for CBT
  10. CBT colleagues and the Charter School Office are hosting a CBT Information Session on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in NYC
    • If you hear from colleagues at Charter Schools that want more information about CBT, then please ask them to contact the NYSED Charter School Office.
    • We do not have plans to record this presentation, but we can try to make ourselves available to any ROS charter schools that want more CBT information.
    • There have been a couple of charter schools that have administered CBT both years of operational CBT.
