CBT Simulation Listserv: Thursday, February 21, 2019

Welcome to the CBT Simulation Listserv! Your email address has been added to this listserv so that we can communicate with your school during the upcoming Statewide CBT Simulations occurring on Tuesday, February 26 and Tuesday, March 5, 2019. You are subscribed as a result of your school indicating via CBT Technology Readiness verification that the school intends to participate in the CBT Simulation, you registered and attended the CBT Simulation webinar, or you have contacted CBT Support to inquire about the CBT Simulation. We will only send CBT Simulation information to this listserv group to assist schools with preparing for the simulations and to provide a mechanism for schools to send us feedback about their CBT Simulation experience.

If you wish to unsubscribe from the CBT Simulation Listserv, please send an email to cbtsupport@nysed.gov with “Unsubscribe from CBT Simulation Listserv” in the subject line.

First CBT Simulation, Tuesday, February 26

We have launched a new section on CBT Support to organize all of the CBT Simulation resources in one location: https://cbtsupport.nysed.gov/hc/en-us/sections/360003725431-Statewide-CBT-Simulations. You can subscribe to new content alerting for any sections on CBT Support.

We want to remind all schools that participation in the CBT Simulation is voluntary. The planning for a “dry run” of a day of operational CBT in your school is self-organized and does not involve access to Nextera Admin or rostering of students. Schools will use the always-available CBT practice tests available through the Questar Secure Browser application that is downloaded to student testing devices. The usernames and passwords to the Secure Browser practice tests are posted on CBT Support, and you can also use the login ticket templates that we created or create your own. You can use the CBT Simulation Checklist to prepare for the simulation.

Recommended Start Time for the CBT Simulation

We are recommending that schools try to mimic the day of an operational CBT test day as closely as possible. Schools will be able to access the Secure Browser practice tests at any time (they are always available!). We would like for schools to try to conduct their CBT Simulation at the start of the school day. Questar will be monitoring server operations from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm both days of the CBT Simulation. Schools can contact Questar Customer Support on the days of the CBT Simulation for any technical assistance, just as they will during an operational CBT testing day: Phone: 866-997-0695 / Email: NY.3-8.help@questarai.com.

The CBT Support Team staff will also be on-hand and ready to help, if you need additional assistance or have any questions on the day of a CBT Simulation in your school: cbtsupport@nysed.gov. Ahead of this exciting event in your school on Tuesday, February 26th, please let us know if you have any questions! We are here to help and hope that your school has a successful CBT Simulation next week.
