2/15/19: CBT Weekly Updates, Grades 3-8 ELA and Math

CBT Weekly Updates, 2/15/19

  1. Today is the last day of the CBT Winter Tour! Heather and Clara and the rest of the CBT Team are at NERIC today for the final show of the tour!
  2. The 2019 School Administrator’s Manual (SAM) was posted last night! The article on CBT Support has been updated to link to the 2019 SAM: https://cbtsupport.nysed.gov/hc/en-us/articles/115001359443
  3. The Statewide Webinar is on Thursday, February 28; the URL to join the webinar will be posted to CBT Support 24 hours before the webinar, and it will also be shared via the CBT Listserv the morning of the webinar event.
  4. We do not yet have the Q&A article from the simulation webinar completed! We were too busy with the roadshows this week—they will be published next week; we promise.
  5. We want to remind everyone that the ScorePoint training session registration is posted on CBT Support: https://cbtsupport.nysed.gov/hc/en-us/articles/360000469352-Registration-Regional-CBT-ScorePoint-Training-Sessions-March-2019
    • March 12: WNYRIC in Buffalo
    • March 13: OHM BOCES in Utica
    • March 14: Questar III BOCES in the Albany area
    • These are hands-on training workshops: any colleagues from CBT schools are welcome to attend to learn more about how constructed responses are scored for CBT.
    • The ScorePoint Statewide Webinar is on Monday, March 18
  6. We are moving the previously promoted date of the Proctor & Best Practices Webinar to Friday, March 15 (from March 20).
    • Many schools told us during the CBT roadshows that they want this to be earlier in March; however, we are traveling for most of the first two weeks of March. (The 15th is the earliest we can do!)
    • Registration will be posted by Tuesday for the Proctor Statewide Webinar: it will be on Friday, March 15 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and will incorporate both proctor training as well as best practices and tech tips.
      • We’ll send registration out in a mid-week CBT Listserv message to make sure everyone in the state is aware.
  7. The CBT ELA Teacher’s Directions are posted! The Quick Links article has been updated on CBT Support with the correct links to the online manuals for 2019: https://cbtsupport.nysed.gov/hc/en-us/articles/115001362463-Teacher-s-Directions-for-Computer-Based-Testing-CBT-
    1. The CBT Math Teacher’s Directions will be coming soon.
    2. Print manuals are still (always) sent to schools for the CBT administration (Teacher’s Directions arrive about a week before the CBT Administration).
  8. The CBT ELA data pull happened last Friday, February 8, 2019! The data files are in QA between Questar and NYSED data teams with student data being loaded to Nextera Admin on March 4th.
  9. Finally, please do check out the new article posted to CBT Support that notes details about those “tangible things” students can have while testing on CBT, such as scratch paper and calculators; this article also notes what hardware, such as mice or stylus, a student may bring from home along with guidelines for the school:
