5/24/19: CBT Weekly Updates, Grades 3-8 ELA and Math

CBT Weekly Updates Call, 5/23/19

  1. More than 21,000 students have taken the CBT field tests this week!
    • There are two more weeks of CBT field testing, which ends on Friday, June 7, 2019.
    • It has been very quiet at Questar and NYSED customer support—this is good news!
    • We have posted articles with support help in the CBT Today content section on Monday and today (Friday).
    • Additionally, we updated the homepage of Nextera Admin with helpful information on how schools can get started with CBT.
    • The Proctor Training Webinar video is the best resource for new schools to use to help with their CBT field testing administration.
    • The testing status image (the “donut”) on Nextera Admin was removed this week as it was not properly updating the school’s testing status.
    • Once schools are done testing, they should use the Testing Status Details page on Nextera Admin to confirm all tests are submitted.
      • This is the simplest report to pull to review a quick testing status.
    • Schools should update “Not Tested” codes, but this is not necessary (we have been recommending that new schools update a few “Not Tested” codes so that they know how this will work for operational CBT.
  2. Please note the operational CBT Data Pull Dates, which will be helpful to have on-hand if you receive any inquiries related to Not Tested codes this summer; any updates made to data on Nextera Admin after a data pull date is not valid/applied to the student’s test record:
    • ELA: April 28
    • Math: May 21
  3. Student Constructed Responses are expected to be available on Nextera Admin the first week of June:
    • Principals and DTCs will receive an email communication once Student CRs are available.
    • The Quick Reference Guide and article on CBT Support will be updated.
    • 2017 responses will be available until September 2019:
      • We will continue to have a rolling year and a half access timeframe to CBT student CRs.
  4. The 2019 released state test questions will premiere on EngageNY the first couple of weeks in June—we’ll keep you posted on that release.
  5. We need suggestions for when it is time for the CBT Weekly Update call to take its summer hiatus!
