In January each year, Questar and NYSED confirm the Questar Secure Browser versions that will be used for the spring CBT administration.
We HIGHLY recommend that all schools develop an uninstall and re-install process for the Questar Secure Browser every year at the end of January to ensure that all student testing devices have been properly updated and received any Secure Browser updates delivered automatically to the application. This is a best practice for CBT.
|Is there a spot where I can check on my schools as the District Test Coordinator (DTC) to make sure they've ordered and done the technology readiness?||Unfortunately no. As a DTC, you will need to "filter" to each of your schools on the technology readiness page to verify if they have completed technology readiness.||If you need any assistance on how to filter to view your schools, please view the CBT Technology Readiness Quick Reference Guide.|
|Do you have to do the sample platform by Dec. 30 if you're only doing Stand-Alone Field Testing (SAFT)?||
The Question Sampler is not a requirement of CBT Technology Readiness.
Schools that will be participating in CBT field testing only are not required to verify CBT Technology Readiness, but they cab use this checklist to determine technology readiness within their school..
The New York State Question Sampler is available publicly online, providing previously released state test questions for students, educators, and parents to review in the Nextera Test Delivery System. The Question Sampler offers three different practice tests in every grade level in both subjects. You can also review different testing accommodations, such as Text-to-Speech (TTS), Reverse Contrast, and more for CBT.
Please be sure to use the Google Chrome Browser when using the Question Sampler.

For step-by-step instructions for verifying the CBT Technology Readiness Checklist on the school level, please view the CBT Technology Readiness Quick Reference Guide.
All operational CBT schools are required to complete and submit CBT Technology Readiness by 12/30/19.

The Question Sampler has three sessions for every grade level available in the five alternative languages.|

|Will the local BOCES be advising a date for the simulation for their respective component schools?||Some BOCES may be coordinating this on a regional basis. Please check with your RIC or BOCES to see if this is available in your area.||
For the 2019-20 school year, there will be two CBT Statewide Simulations offered to schools on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 and Tuesday, February 11, 2020.
Schools that are testing via the computer should plan on scheduling at least one of the Statewide CBT Simulations, although schools are welcome to participate on both days.
|Who is responsible for setting up accounts in Nextera Admin? Is it the principal? My account is no longer available to me from the 2019 administration.||
Questar removed all 2018-19 school year data, including RIC, district, and school organization data as well as all user account data, including principals and district test coordinators, and is pulling new information from the SEDREF database at NYSED. This is part of the annual data refresh process.
|As part of the data refresh, all user accounts are removed, including teacher accounts. It is the responsibility of principals and test coordinators to create new accounts for users who are not created automatically as part of the data refresh from SEDREF and who need access immediately to Nextera Admin. Information on adding new users in Nextera Admin is available in the following video: Learn how to add new users in Nextera Admin. You can also contact the NYSED CBT Support team if you need additional help.|
