For the 2026-27 3-8 ELA, Math, and Science (Grades 5 & 8) administration, the Chromebook Secure Browser has been updated and needs to be installed on all Chromebook student devices prior to the Simulation. The legacy Chrome app in ChromeOS kiosk mode has been phased out by Google to a Progressive Web App (PWA).
Testing Coordinators are advised to make the transition to modern web technologies. Coordinators need to remove the legacy Chrome App, then update to the PWA. Testing Coordinators need to install the application and accompanying extension. Then, the new secure browser must be installed through the Google Admin Console on managed devices. Please find attached additional PWA Chromebook installation instructions.
